Just for a little clarity, after we copy the poster
are we then creating our own poster for an event?

Yes… The first part is to copy exactly but in high resolution a Swiss poster. Because copying illustrations can sometimes be tricky it's best if you work with a type only poster.
Part two, the following week, will have you create your own original poster based on a current event. You can search for a New Haven arts calendar on Google or you can look at events at Yale University at their website etc. Your own poster should show evidence of an understanding of the grid design, type hierarchy, etc. this would also be done in high resolution in other words 12" x 17" x 240 dpi.
