Responsible for most of the work of the
Stedelijk Museum, Wim Crouwel is a graphic designer well-known as one of the founders of Total design, design studio. He was a teacher and firm believer in using cathode ray tube technology. Although it latter became popular Crouwel believed the
new alphabet to be over the top and not very functional. He was well-known in grid-based layouts and typography.
The grid is the most important design concept of the last 80 years... That he embraced CRT's is quite forward thinking...
