Erik Nitsche was an artist born in Lausanne, Switzerland in
1908 and studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Munich. He left Europe in his adult years and made
his home in various places in the United States including Hollywood, New York, Connecticut
and France. Over the years, his body
of work including a variety of medium including set design, magazines, posters,
annual reports and advertisements. Nitsche
is probably most noted for his relationship with the General Dynamics Company designing
anything from post cards, advertisements and books for the company.
What I like most about his work is the versatility he
expresses in his use of modern, abstract images balancing it with a sophisticated
feel with his typographical design.

His work exemplifies the Swiss aesthetic of clarity and simplicity.
