Aaron Draplin was born in Detroit, Michigan on October
15, 1973. He was born into a two family home where both parents worked. Aaron
went through high school and then received his associates in visual arts at
Northwestern Michigan College. The start of his career was with a snowboarding company
called Solid Snowboards, which was the break out for his career. After his
break out, he moved to Minneapolis and finished his degree in design at
Minneapolis College of Art and Design. In the early 2000’s Aaron was given a
job a director of SNOWBOARDER magazine where he won ‘’ Art Director of the year
for PRIMEDIA 2000.’’ Then in 2002 he was promoted to senior director of Cinco
Design Office of Portland. He worked on many accounts popular to the community
such as Gravis, Helly Hansen and Nixon. Aaron Draplin clients has ranged from Nike,
Ford Motor, former Obama Administration and Red Wing. He also has his own book
called “Pretty Much Everything,” where he speaks on case studies and advice for
the field that he works in. Lastly, Aaron
has his own company, “Draplin Design Co.” launched in 2004, which specializes
in brand identity, logos typography.
